Scruple (Apothecary) [s.ap]
The scruple is a small unit of mass used in the apothecary system, historically important in pharmacy for measuring medicinal ingredients.
One scruple equals 20 grains, or about 1.296 grams. It is also 1/3 of an apothecary dram and 1/24 of an apothecary ounce.
Though largely obsolete today, the scruple helped ensure precise measurement of drugs and compounds in traditional medicine.
